Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.

You should see a box prompting you for your password. Enter your password now. By default your password is admin. Click the Log in button to log in to your router.

Click the Firewall link near the left side of the page.

Click the PCs Privileges link near the top of the page.

Click the New button near the right side of the page.

Put a dot into the All PCs have unlimited access to the internet radio button. Your router denies all incoming traffic by default, so you don't have to do anything more to secure your network. If you have forwarded ports you will need to open those ports in your firewall. Your router allows all outgoing traffic by default, so you don't have to do anything to send data out of your network to the internet. If for whatever reason you want to reprogram that functionality, we will show you how here.

Click the New button near the right side of the page.

Enter the ip address to forward these ports to into the PC's IP Address box. If you are forwarding ports so you can run a program on your computer, you should enter your computer's ip address into that box. Select Allow from the specify ports drop down box. Enter the ports to forward into the specify ports box. These ports can be entered as a list 23,24,25, a range 500-600, or a combination of both 23,45,500-600. Select Block from the All other services drop down box. Click the Add button. Click the Close button.

And that is it! You are done!
