Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.0.1.

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is admin, and the password is blank. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.

Click the Advanced button near the top of the page.

The menu on the left should change. In this new menu, click Firewall.

Put a dot into the Enabled radio button. Enter the name of the program into the Name box. It doesn't really matter what you put into this box, but something that will remind you why these ports are being forwarded would be a good idea. Put a dot into the Allow radio button. Select WAN from the Source drop down box. Enter * into the Source IP Range Start and Source IP Range End box. Select LAN from the Destination drop down box. Enter the ip address to allow traffic to into the Destination IP Range Start and Destination IP Range End box. If you are allowing traffic so you can run a program on your computer, you should enter your computer's ip address into that box. Use the Protocol drop down box to select the protocol type of the ports you are opening. If you need to allow a single port, enter that port number into the left Port Range and the right Port Range boxes. If you need to allow a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the left Port Range box. Then enter the highest number of that range into the right Port Range box. When you are finished, click the Apply button.

And that is it! You are done!
