Opening Ports for Command and Conquer Generals GameSpy on the Microsoft WindowsXPFirewallProgram Firewall
Go ahead and open up Microsoft Windows XP Firewall.
There are a variety of ways that you can get into the Windows XP Firewall. The method that we are going to list should work for most people.
Start by clicking on the
Start button on the bottom left of your screen and then click on
Run. You should see the
Run dialog box.

Type the word
control into the
Run dialog box and click the
Ok button. This will take you to the
Control Panel.
Click the Security Center link near the bottom left of the page.
Your control panel may look different. If it does, then find the link called
Windows Firewall. This will take you straight to the firewall settings page.
Click the Windows Firewall link near the bottom right of the page.
Remove the checkmark from the Don't allow exceptions checkbox.
Click the Exceptions tab.

Look through the
Programs and Services list for Command and Conquer Generals GameSpy. If you find it, put a check in the box next to it to enable the rule. If you found Command and Conquer Generals GameSpy in the list, then you are done. Simply click the
Ok button.
Only continue if you could not find your program above.If you can not find Command and Conquer Generals GameSpy, then click the
Add Program button. You will see the following screen.

Look for Command and Conquer Generals GameSpy in the
Add a Program window. If you find it, click
Ok. This will take you back to the window with the Exceptions tab.
Only contine if you STILL could not find your program. If you could not find Command and Conquer Generals GameSpy in the
Add a Program window, then click the
Browse button. You will see something like the following, only the contents will be different.

You will have to find the program on your computer to add a rule. If you do not know where to find it, try looking in
Program Files, then look for a folder that is named similar. Once you find the program, click
Open, then
Ok.
Look through the
Programs and Services list for your programg. If you find it, put a check in the box next to your program to enable the rule. If you found your program in the list and put a check next to it, then you are done. Simply click the
Ok button.
Only continue if you could not find your program above.If you can not find your program, then click the
Add Program button. You will see the following screen.

Look for your program in the
Add a Program window. If you find it, click
Ok. This will take you back to the window with the Exceptions tab.
Only contine if you STILL could not find your program. If you could not find your program in the
Add a Program window, then click the
