Put a dot in to the Ask me what to do radio button. Turning that option on will cause the firewall to ask you before allowing a new program to communicate with the internet. Uncheck the Automatically customize Internet access settings for common programs checkbox. We want to know what the firewall is allowing out of your computer. Click the Program Control link on the left hand side of this window.

There should be one inbound and one outbound rule for this program. The outbound rule may allow all ports out, but it is important that there are two rules here.
Put a dot in to the Allow radio button. Then click the Connection tab at the top of the window.
Make sure there is a dot in the Any Computers radio button. Then click the Communications tab a the top of the window.

Enter the name of the program you are opening ports for in to the box on the description page. It doesn't matter what you put into that box, but something that will remind you why this configuration is here, would be a good idea. When that is done, go ahead and click Ok until you are back at the main menu.
To test if your port has been properly opened, you can use our Port Checker tool.
