What is Port Forwarding?

We are going to show you how to forward port 6112 TCP, which is the only port that must be forwarded for Warcraft III. You can change the port that Warcraft III uses for hosting on the Options/Gameplay screen. If you decide to change the port that Warcraft III is uses for hosting you should select a port in the 6113-6119 range. You would really only want to do this when you had two computers on your network that were trying to host custom games. Remember that you would need to forward the port that the second computer will be hosting on to the second computer.

Do not skip this step!

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser. If you do not know your routers internal IP address please read our How To Find Your Routers IP Address guide.

In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your router. By default the IP address should be set to 192.168.10.100.

You should see a box prompting you for your password. Enter your password now. By default your password is admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.

Click the Forwarding Rules link near the left of the page.

You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click Virtual Server.

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. Warcraft III requires you to forward the following ports: 6112-6119. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Virtual Server menu.

When you're finished, click Save near the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

And that's it! You're done!
