Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the Actiontec MI424-WR_Rev.E router your computer needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:

Login to the Actiontec MI424-WR_Rev.E Router

Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.

How To Find Your Actiontec MI424-WR_Rev.E Router IP Address

It's ok if you don't know your Actiontec MI424-WR_Rev.E router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:

Login To The Actiontec MI424-WR_Rev.E Router Using Your Web Browser

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Actiontec MI424-WR_Rev.E router. By default the IP address should be set to 192.168.1.1.

Having trouble forwarding ports on the Actiontec MI424-WR_Rev.E?

If you are having trouble with this guide, then perhaps PFConfig may be your solution. PFConfig is a software tool that will automatically forward ports for your Actiontec MI424-WR_Rev.E router to save you time and hassle.

Before we can forward ports to your DVR, we need to change some settings in your DVR.

Open the SuperDvr program. Click the lock on the right side of the window to log in. By default the username is system and the password is blank. That might mean that you enter nothing for the password, or you might actually have to type blank.

Click the wrench tool on the right hand side of the screen to get in to the configuration menu.

The red box in the screenshot above circles the ports that must be forwarded to your computer's ip address.

Now that you are logged in to your Actiontec MI424-WR_Rev.E router you should see the following:

Click the Firewall Settings button near the top of the page.

Click the Port Forwarding link near the left of the page.

Forward Ports 80 on the Actiontec MI424-WR_Rev.E

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. QSee QSU2DVR04 requires you to forward the 80,1159-1161 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Port Forwarding menu and then click Add.

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Port Forwarding page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Add.

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Port Forwarding page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Add.

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Port Forwarding page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Add.

When you're finished, click Apply near the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

And that's it! You're done!


Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports for QSee QSU2DVR04 on the Actiontec MI424-WR_Rev.E you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
