Port Forwarding the Advantek ABR241-SOHO Router for WebCam Monitor

Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the Advantek ABR241-SOHO router your computer needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:


Now that you have setup a Static IP Address on your computer, please enter the IP address that you assigned to your computer here:

192.168.62. <-- Don't Skip This Step!

Login to the Advantek ABR241-SOHO Router

Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.

How To Find Your Advantek ABR241-SOHO Router IP Address

It's ok if you don't know your Advantek ABR241-SOHO router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:

Login To The Advantek ABR241-SOHO Router Using Your Web Browser

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Advantek ABR241-SOHO router. By default the IP address should be set to 192.168.62.1.

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now.

The Default Advantek ABR241-SOHO Router Username is: admin

The Default Advantek ABR241-SOHO Router Password is: 1234


Click the Ok button to log in to your Advantek ABR241-SOHO router.

Now that you are logged in to your Advantek ABR241-SOHO router you should see the following:

Click the Advanced Setup link near the left of the page.

Click the Filters link near the top of the page.

This page lets you block traffic into and out of your router. We need to make sure that the ports you are forwarding are not shown on this page. Remember, I am showing you how to use the page so you can remove the ports you are forwarding from it. Your port forwarding configuration will not work if the ports you are forwarding are on this page. Make sure that a port range here does not contain the ports you are forwarding. I'm going to go over the boxes on this page. The Filtering Layer drop down box will generally be set to Port Filtering to filter ports. The Proto Num box will be grayed out, so we will not do anything with it. The Direction drop down allows you to select traffic coming into or going out of your network. The Private Port Range box will let you enter the ports to block. The lowest port number in the range should go into the box on the left. The highest port number in the range should go into the box on the right. If you only plan on blocking one port enter that port number into both of these boxes. Use the Protocol drop down box to select the port protocol of the blocked ports.

Forward Ports 1040 on the Advantek ABR241-SOHO

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. WebCam Monitor requires you to forward the following ports: 1040. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Virtual Servers menu.

Forward Ports 1040 on the Advantek ABR241-SOHO

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Virtual Servers page. Go ahead and enter those settings now.

When you're finished, click Apply near the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

And that's it! You're done!


Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports for WebCam Monitor on the Advantek ABR241-SOHO you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
