Before we can forward ports for Ares, we need to figure out what ports ares is using. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that.

Open up Ares. Then click the Control Panel icon in the toolbar at the top of your screen.

You should see a bunch of tabs close to the top of this window. One of these tabs should be labeled Transfer. Go ahead and click it now.

Enter the port you want Ares to use into the Accept incoming connections on port box. By default this port is set to 1157. You can change it to whatever you like, or leave it set to 1157.
Please enter the port you chose for Ares below.
To setup port forwarding on this router your computer needs to have a static ip address.

When you are finished setting up a static ip address, please come back to this page and enter
the ip address you setup in the Static IP Address box below.
Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.
If you do not know your routers internal IP address please read our How To Find Your Routers IP Address guide.
In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your router.
By default the IP address should be set to 192.168.1.1.

Click the Configuration avancee link near the left of the page.
You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click Serveurs virtuels(NAT).
You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click Serveurs virtuels.
Click the Ajouter link near the top of the page.
We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. Ares requires you to forward the following ports: 100000. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the NAT menu.

And that is it! You are done!
