Port Forwarding eDonkey on the Alice Box AH4021

What is Port Forwarding?
What is Port Triggering?

Before we can forward ports for eDonkey, we need to figure out what ports eDonkey is using. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that. Go ahead and open up eDonkey.

Click the Options button in the menu at the top of your screen.

In the menu on the left hand side click Advanced. On this page you should see an UPnP Support checkbox. Please Uncheck that box.

We are going to click another option in the menu on the left hand side. Let's click Network this time. You should see a TCP Port box and an UDP Port box. Enter a random port into each of these boxes. It doesn't matter what ports you choose, but a port numbers between 10000 and 60000 would be a good idea. A higher numbered port is generally the best to use, because most ISP's do not block the higher numbered ports. Please enter the port you chose for the TCP Port box into the box below.

To setup port forwarding on this router your computer needs to have a static ip address. Take a look at our Static IP Address guide to setup a static ip address. When you are finished setting up a static ip address, please come back to this page and enter the ip address you setup in the Static IP Address box below.

Do not skip this step!

Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.

I do not know the default username and password for your router. If you know them, please use our Comments page to let us know what they are. Thanks!

You can find common passwords that might work for your router at our default username and passsword page.

Click the Configuration avancee link near the left of the page.

You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click Serveurs virtuels(NAT).

Click the Ajouter link near the top of the page.

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. eDonkey requires you to forward the ports you entered above. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the NAT menu.
