Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the Asus WL-520GU router your device needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:

Login to the Asus WL-520GU Router

Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.

How To Find Your Asus WL-520GU Router IP Address

It's ok if you don't know your Asus WL-520GU router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:

Login To The Asus WL-520GU Router Using Your Web Browser

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

In the picture above the address bar has in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Asus WL-520GU router. By default the IP address should be set to

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now.

The Default Asus WL-520GU Router Username is: admin

The Default Asus WL-520GU Router Password is: admin

Click the Ok button to log in to your Asus WL-520GU router.

How to Port Forward any port on the Asus WL-520GU

Now that you are logged in to your Asus WL-520GU router you should see the following:

Click the NAT Setting link near the left of the page.

You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click Virtual Server.

Put a dot into the Yes radio button.

Select User Defined from the Well-Known Applications drop down box.

Enter the port to forward into the Port Range and Local Port box.

Use the Protocol drop down box to select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding.

Enter the name of the program into the Description box. It doesn't really matter what you put into this box, but something that will remind you why these ports are being forwarded would be a good idea.

When you are finished, click the Add button.

When you're finished, click Finish near the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

And that's it! You're done!
