Port Forwarding the Dlink DSL-2640S Router for QNAP SS-439 Pro Turbo NAS

Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the Dlink DSL-2640S router your computer needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:

• Either try our free program that will setup a static IP address for you called PF Setup Static IP.
• Or follow our Static IP Address guide to setup a static IP address.

Now that you have setup a Static IP Address on your computer, please enter the IP address that you assigned to your computer here:

Login to the Dlink DSL-2640S Router

Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.

How To Find Your Dlink DSL-2640S Router IP Address

It's ok if you don't know your Dlink DSL-2640S router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:

• Either find your router IP address using this guide: How To Find Your Routers IP Address
• Or you can use our Free Software to find your router IP address. PF Static IP Address and PF Router Detector are both free software applications that will help you find your router IP address.

Login To The Dlink DSL-2640S Router Using Your Web Browser

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Dlink DSL-2640S router. By default the IP address should be set to 192.168.0.1.

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now.

The Default Dlink DSL-2640S Router Username is: admin

The Default Dlink DSL-2640S Router Password is: sky

Click the Ok button to log in to your Dlink DSL-2640S router.

Now that you are logged in to your Dlink DSL-2640S router you should see the following:

Forward Ports 20-22 on the Dlink DSL-2640S

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. QNAP SS-439 Pro Turbo NAS requires you to forward the following ports: 20-22,25,80,137-139,443,445,548,873,3306,6000,6881-6999,8080,9000,13131,55536-56559. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Port Forwarding menu.

Click the Security link near the top of the page.

You should now see a new menu, in this new menu click Services.


Click the Add a Custom Service button near the center of the page.


Go ahead and enter the following settings in to your router's Add Custom Service page.


When you're finished, click the Apply button.

Now we need to do the second half of the port forward, so click the Firewall Rules link near the top of the page.


Click the Inbound Services or Outbound Services Add button. If you are unsure whether the program you are using will use these ports for inbound or outbound traffic, go ahead and repeat the following for both.


Go ahead and enter the following settings in to your router's Firewall Rules page.


When you're finished, click the Apply button.

Forward Port 25 on the Dlink DSL-2640S

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Port Forwarding page. Go ahead and enter those settings now.

Click the Security link near the top of the page.

You should now see a new menu, in this new menu click Services.


Click the Add a Custom Service button near the center of the page.


Go ahead and enter the following settings in to your router's Add Custom Service page.


When you're finished, click the Apply button.

Now we need to do the second half of the port forward, so click the Firewall Rules link near the top of the page.


Click the Inbound Services or Outbound Services Add button. If you are unsure whether the program you are using will use these ports for inbound or outbound traffic, go ahead and repeat the following for both.


Go ahead and enter the following settings in to your router's Firewall Rules page.


When you're finished, click the Apply button.

Forward Port 80 on the Dlink DSL-2640S

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Port Forwarding page. Go ahead and enter those settings now.

You should now see a new menu, in this new menu click Services.


Click the Add a Custom Service button near the center of the page.


Go ahead and enter the following settings in to your router's Add Custom Service page.


When you're finished, click the Apply button.

Go ahead and enter the following settings in to your router's Add Custom Service page.


When you're finished, click the Apply button.
