Port Forwarding the Dlink DSL-504v2 Router for Video Insight Server

Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the Dlink DSL-504v2 router your computer needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:


Now that you have setup a Static IP Address on your computer, please enter the IP address that you assigned to your computer here:

192.168.0. <-- Don't Skip This Step!

Login to the Dlink DSL-504v2 Router

Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.

How To Find Your Dlink DSL-504v2 Router IP Address

It's ok if you don't know your Dlink DSL-504v2 router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:

Login To The Dlink DSL-504v2 Router Using Your Web Browser

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Dlink DSL-504v2 router. By default the IP address should be set to 192.168.0.1.

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now.

The Default Dlink DSL-504v2 Router Username is: admin

The Default Dlink DSL-504v2 Router Password is: admin


Click the Ok button to log in to your Dlink DSL-504v2 router.

Now that you are logged in to your Dlink DSL-504v2 router you should see the following:

Click the Port Redirection link near the left of the page.

Click the Add button near the right of the page.

Forward Ports 80 on the Dlink DSL-504v2

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. Video Insight Server requires you to forward the 80,1433,4000,11111 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Redirect Port -- Add menu and then click Ok.

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Redirect Port -- Add page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Ok.

Forward Ports 4000 on the Dlink DSL-504v2

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Redirect Port -- Add page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Ok.

Forward Ports 11111 on the Dlink DSL-504v2

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Redirect Port -- Add page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Ok.

Click the Save Changes link near the left of the page.

When you're finished, click Save Configuration near the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

And that's it! You're done!


Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports for Video Insight Server on the Dlink DSL-504v2 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
