Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the Microsoft MN-820 router your device needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:

Now that you have setup a Static IP Address on your device, please enter the IP address that you assigned to your device here:

Login to the Microsoft MN-820 Router

Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.

How To Find Your Microsoft MN-820 Router IP Address

It's ok if you don't know your Microsoft MN-820 router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:

Login To The Microsoft MN-820 Router Using Your Web Browser

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Microsoft MN-820 router. By default the IP address should be set to

You should see a box prompting you for your Microsoft MN-820 password. Enter the password now.

The Default Microsoft MN-820 Router Password is: admin

Click the Log On button to log in to your Microsoft MN-820 router.

Now that you are logged in to your Microsoft MN-820 router you should see the following:

Click the Security link near the left of the page.

Click the Port Forwarding link near the center of the page.

Click the Set up persistent port forwarding link near the center of the page.

Forward Ports 2302-2400 on the Microsoft MN-820

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. DirectX 8.1 requires you to forward the 2302-2400,6073 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Persistent Port Forwarding menu and then click Add.

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Persistent Port Forwarding page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Add.

And that is it! You are done!

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports for DirectX 8.1 on the Microsoft MN-820 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
