Port Forwarding the Motorola SBG1000 Router for QSee QSTD2408

Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the Motorola SBG1000 router your computer needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:


Now that you have setup a Static IP Address on your computer, please enter the IP address that you assigned to your computer here:

192.168.0. <-- Don't Skip This Step!

Login to the Motorola SBG1000 Router

Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.

How To Find Your Motorola SBG1000 Router IP Address

It's ok if you don't know your Motorola SBG1000 router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:

Login To The Motorola SBG1000 Router Using Your Web Browser

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Motorola SBG1000 router. By default the IP address should be set to 192.168.0.1.

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now.

The Default Motorola SBG1000 Router Username is: admin

The Default Motorola SBG1000 Router Password is: motorola


Click the Log In button to log in to your Motorola SBG1000 router.

How to Port Forward QSee QSTD2408 on the Motorola SBG1000


Having trouble forwarding ports on the Motorola SBG1000?

If you are having trouble with this guide, then perhaps PFConfig may be your solution. PFConfig is a software tool that will automatically forward ports for your Motorola SBG1000 router to save you time and hassle.

Configuring the DVR to pick up an IP address

  • Press Menu
  • Select System

  • Select Network

  • Put a check in the DHCP box.
  • Select OK.

  • Exit out to the live cameras by pressing the ESC button on the DVR.


Power Cycle the DVR

  • Remove the power cable from the back of the dvr.
  • Wait 20 seconds.
  • Plug in the power cable.


Identifying the IP address

  • Press Menu
  • Select Info
  • Select Network

  • Write down the IP address, subnet mask & gateway found on your info network screen.



Assign a Static IP

  • Press Menu
  • Select System

  • Select Network

  • Remove the check from the DHCP box.
  • Input the same IP address, subnet mask & gateway - (you wrote down earlier).

  • Select ok

Now that you are logged in to your Motorola SBG1000 router you should see the following:

Click the Gateway button near the left of the page.

The menu near the top should change. In this new menu, click Port Forwarding.

Click the config button near the top of the page.

Forward Ports 80 on the Motorola SBG1000

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. QSee QSTD2408 requires you to forward the 80,2000 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Add New Port Forwarding Entry menu and then click Add.

Forward Ports 2000 on the Motorola SBG1000

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Add New Port Forwarding Entry page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Add.

When you're finished, click Apply near the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

And that's it! You're done!


Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports for QSee QSTD2408 on the Motorola SBG1000 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
