Before we can forward ports for BitSpirit, we need to figure out what ports BitSpirit is using. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that. Go ahead and open up BitSpirit.
Click Options in the menu at the top of your screen. In the list that drops down click Preferences.
Click the Network Options tab at the top of that page. You should now see the menu shown in the screenshot above. The number in the Default Port for TCP Listening box contains the port you need to forward. You can change this port if you want to. If you do change it, it is a good idea to pick a port between 10000 and 60000. Most ISPs do not block those higher numbered ports.
Now that you are logged in to your Motorola SBG900 router you should see the following:
Click the Gateway button near the left of the page.
The menu near the top should change. In this new menu, click Port Forwarding.
Click the config button near the top of the page.
We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. BitSpirit requires you to forward the ports you entered above. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Add New Port Forwarding Entry menu and then click Add.
|LAN IP Address||192.168.0.|
When you're finished, click Apply near the bottom of the screen to save your changes.
And that's it! You're done!
Now that you have forwarded ports for BitSpirit on the Motorola SBG900 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
