Port Forwarding the Netcomm NB4 Router for DirectX 8.1

Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the Netcomm NB4 router your computer needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:

Login to the Netcomm NB4 Router

Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.

How To Find Your Netcomm NB4 Router IP Address

It's ok if you don't know your Netcomm NB4 router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:

Login To The Netcomm NB4 Router Using Your Web Browser

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Netcomm NB4 router. By default the IP address should be set to 192.168.1.1.

How to Port Forward DirectX 8.1 on the Netcomm NB4


Having trouble forwarding ports on the Netcomm NB4?

Now that you are logged in to your Netcomm NB4 router you should see the following:

Click the Advanced button near the top of the page.

The menu on the left should change. In this new menu, click Port Forwarding.

Put a dot into the User radio button.

Click the New button near the bottom of the page.

Forward Ports 2302-2400 on the Netcomm NB4

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. DirectX 8.1 requires you to forward the 2302-2400,6073 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Rule Management menu and then click Apply.

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Rule Management page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Apply.

Select the applications you just created in the Available Rules list, then click the Add > button to move them to the Applied Rules box.

When you are finished, click the Apply button.

When you're finished, click Apply near the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

And that's it! You're done!


Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports for DirectX 8.1 on the Netcomm NB4 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
