Port Forwarding the Netgear WNR834M Router for QSee QSU2DVR04

Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the Netgear WNR834M router your computer needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:


Now that you have setup a Static IP Address on your computer, please enter the IP address that you assigned to your computer here:

Login to the Netgear WNR834M Router

Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.

How To Find Your Netgear WNR834M Router IP Address

It's ok if you don't know your Netgear WNR834M router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:

Login To The Netgear WNR834M Router Using Your Web Browser

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Netgear WNR834M router. By default the IP address should be set to 192.168.1.1.

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now.

The Default Netgear WNR834M Router Password is: password


Click the Ok button to log in to your Netgear WNR834M router.

How to Port Forward QSee QSU2DVR04 on the Netgear WNR834M


Having trouble forwarding ports on the Netgear WNR834M?

If you are having trouble with this guide, then perhaps PFConfig may be your solution. PFConfig is a software tool that will automatically forward ports for your Netgear WNR834M router to save you time and hassle.

Before we can forward ports to your DVR, we need to change some settings in your DVR.

Open the SuperDvr program. Click the lock on the right side of the window to log in. By default the username is system and the password is blank. That might mean that you enter nothing for the password, or you might actually have to type blank.

Click the wrench tool on the right hand side of the screen to get in to the configuration menu.

The red box in the screenshot above circles the ports that must be forwarded to your computer's ip address.

Now that you are logged in to your Netgear WNR834M router you should see the following:

Click the Port Forwarding / Port Triggering link near the left of the page.

Put a dot into the Port Forwarding radio button.

Click the Add Custom Service button near the bottom of the page.

Forward Ports 80 on the Netgear WNR834M

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. QSee QSU2DVR04 requires you to forward the 80,1159-1161 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Ports - Custom Services menu and then click Apply.

Forward Ports 1159-1161 on the Netgear WNR834M

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Ports - Custom Services page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Apply.

And that is it! You are done!

Now that you have forwarded ports for QSee QSU2DVR04 on the Netgear WNR834M you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
