Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

Before we can forward ports for BearShare, we need to figure out what ports BearShare is using. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that. Go ahead and open up BearShare.

Click Setup in the menu at the top of your screen. In the list that drops down click Connection.

On this page you should see a Listening Port for Incomming TCP and UDP Connections box. This box contains the port you need to forward to the computer you are running BearShare on. You can change this port number if you want to. Please enter the port you chose into the box below.

Click the Advanced button near the top of the page.

The menu on the left should change. In this new menu, click Port Forwarding.

Put a dot into the User radio button.

Click the New button near the bottom of the page.

Forward User Defined Port on the New Link 93071G

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. BearShare requires you to forward the ports you entered above. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Rule Management menu and then click Apply.

Test if Your Ports are Open
