Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the Paradyne 6381 router your device needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:

Login to the Paradyne 6381 Router

Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.

How To Find Your Paradyne 6381 Router IP Address

It's ok if you don't know your Paradyne 6381 router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:

Login To The Paradyne 6381 Router Using Your Web Browser

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Paradyne 6381 router. By default the IP address should be set to

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now.

Click the Log In button to log in to your Paradyne 6381 router.

If you are having trouble with this guide, then perhaps PFConfig may be your solution. PFConfig is a software tool that will automatically forward ports for your Paradyne 6381 router to save you time and hassle.

Configuring the DVR to pick up an IP address

  • Press Menu
  • Select System

  • Select Network

  • Put a check in the DHCP box.
  • Select OK.

  • Exit out to the live cameras by pressing the ESC button on the DVR.

Power Cycle the DVR

  • Remove the power cable from the back of the dvr.
  • Wait 20 seconds.
  • Plug in the power cable.

Identifying the IP address

  • Press Menu
  • Select Info
  • Select Network

  • Write down the IP address, subnet mask & gateway found on your info network screen.

Assign a Static IP

  • Press Menu
  • Select System

  • Select Network

  • Remove the check from the DHCP box.
  • Input the same IP address, subnet mask & gateway - (you wrote down earlier).

  • Select ok

Now that you are logged in to your Paradyne 6381 router you should see the following:

Click the Advanced button near the top of the page.

The menu on the left should change. In this new menu, click Port Forwarding.

Put a dot into the User radio button.

Click the New button near the bottom of the page.

Forward Ports 80 on the Paradyne 6381

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. Qsee QSD2316C8-500 requires you to forward the 80,2000 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Custom Port Forwarding menu and then click Apply.

Forward Ports 2000 on the Paradyne 6381

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Custom Port Forwarding page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Apply.

Select the applications you just created in the Available Rules list, then click the Add > button to move them to the Applied Rules box.

When you're finished, click Save Settings near the left of the screen to save your changes.

And that's it! You're done!

Test if Your Ports are Open
