Port Forwarding the Prolink WGR1004 Router for KGuard KG-SH DVRs

Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the Prolink WGR1004 router your computer needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:


Now that you have setup a Static IP Address on your computer, please enter the IP address that you assigned to your computer here:

Login to the Prolink WGR1004 Router

Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.

How To Find Your Prolink WGR1004 Router IP Address

It's ok if you don't know your Prolink WGR1004 router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:

Login To The Prolink WGR1004 Router Using Your Web Browser

Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser.

In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Prolink WGR1004 router. By default the IP address should be set to 192.168.1.254.

How to Port Forward KGuard KG-SH DVRs on the Prolink WGR1004


Having trouble forwarding ports on the Prolink WGR1004?

If you are having trouble with this guide, then perhaps PFConfig may be your solution. PFConfig is a software tool that will automatically forward ports for your Prolink WGR1004 router to save you time and hassle.

First we need to make sure that your DVR is configured correctly. In the KGuard menu system you should see the following.



Go ahead and select Setup.



Now select Network



Make sure Net Type is set to DHCP, then make a note of the IP Address listed here. In the picture above the IP Address is listed as 192.168.3.106. Yours will be different. Write down the numbers that you see on your DVR. This is the address that you'll be forwarding the ports to.

Now that you are logged in to your Prolink WGR1004 router you should see the following:

Click the Advanced link near the left of the page.

You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click Virtual Servers.

Forward Ports 67 on the Prolink WGR1004

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. KGuard KG-SH DVRs requires you to forward the 67,68,80 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Virtual Servers menu and then click Save.

Forward Ports 68 on the Prolink WGR1004

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Virtual Servers page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Save.

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Virtual Servers page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Save.

And that is it! You are done!


Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports for KGuard KG-SH DVRs on the Prolink WGR1004 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
