To setup port forwarding on the Virgin Media Netgear_CG3101D router your device needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:
Now we need to know your routers IP address. You can find it a variety of ways.
It's ok if you don't know your Virgin Media Netgear_CG3101D router's internal IP address. You can find it by doing one of the following:
In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the internal IP address of your Virgin Media Netgear_CG3101D router. By default the IP address should be set to 192.168.0.1.

Before we can forward ports for Skype, we need to figure out what port Skype is using. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that. Go ahead and open up Skype.
Click Tools in the menu at the top of your screen. In the list that drops down click Options.
In the menu on the left hand side of this new page click the Connection option. You should now see the menu shown in the screenshot above. The number in the Use Port for incoming Connections box contains the port you need to forward. You can change the port number, if you want to. Please enter the port you chose into the box below.
Now that you are logged in to your Virgin Media Netgear_CG3101D router you should see the following:
Click the Advanced Settings link near the center of the page.
Click the Port Forwarding link near the left of the page.
We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. Skype requires you to forward the ports you entered above. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Port Forwarding menu and then click Add.

And that is it! You are done!
Now that you have forwarded ports for Skype on the Virgin Media Netgear_CG3101D you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
