Weapons Course

Welcome to CS:GO! Let's get started on the weapons course so you know how to play!

Use the W A S D keys to walk up and press the E key to pick up the gun. Use the left mouse button to fire the gun at the target.

Now you get to shoot cardboard cut outs! Do the same as before, but shoot the enemy cut outs and not the friendly ones.

Time to hit the distant target now. Use short controlled bursts to control the recoil and kickback and get 15 hits in quickly.

There is now a thin piece of wood blocking the target. Simply shoot through it, your bullet penetrate thin surfaces. Again, short controlled bursts to get 15 hits.

Can't shoot through this thick metal though. Hold CTRL to duck down and shoot the target. Crouching also improves your accuracy a lot.

Pick up the rifle and pistol and get told about damage groups. After that, some cut outs with health bars will pop up. Shoot them down, and note how much damage they take when you shoot them.

Now you get to do the same thing, but with a timer! Don't worry, the time doesn't matter. If you run out of rifle ammo, don't forget to switch to your Pistol.

Time for the Grenade range. Pick up some grenades and throw them to blow up the dolls. Grenades can be cooked and bounce off walls. To get the one behind the glass, throw a grenade at the wood wall so it bounces to its feet.

Reaction time test now. Pick the pistol up and shoot the two targets in under 5 seconds.

You'll have to do that test again, so pick up the pistol and- *BANG* a flashbang drops and blinds you. Pick up the pistol again and turn around when the flashbang drops. Once it explodes, turns around and shoot the two target in under 5 seconds.

Time to learn about bombs, you traitor. Pick the bomb up and head to Bomb point A. To place the bomb hold left mouse or E while in a bomb point.

Oh crud! They planted a live bomb in Bomb point B! Head over there quickly to defuse it by holding E. It takes 10 seconds to defuse a bomb, but only takes 5 with the wire cutters.

Time for the live firing range! Pick up the pistol, Knife, grenades and the primary weapon of your choice. Head through the door to start.

The first room has three cut outs, shoot them down! Then grab some ammo and progress.

The next room has moving target and friendlies. Watch out where you shoot.

This room has tight blunders of cut outs, perfect for using a grenade.

Crouch under the wooden block, don't shoot the friendly and watch out for a flashbang that will drop.

Pull out your knife to run faster to the finish line. From here you can try again or quit to the main menu.

Classic

From the main menu, choose Play offline with bots, choose a game mode and map and press play. From here you can choose the game mode and map. First I'll talk about Classic Casual and Competitive.

In this game mode, the Terrorists are trying to plant the bomb, and the Counter-Terrorists. We'll look at the Counter T's first.

You spawn in ad have a few seconds to press B and buy weapons. The first round is always a pistol round, so for now you can only buy pistols. Charge out into the map to find the terrorists.

You win the round if the CTs kill all the Terrorists, but be careful, there are no respawns in classic.

If the terrorists plant the bomb, all is not lost. Locate the bomb and defuse it before it blows up to instantly win the round.

Now for the terrorists. One of them will spawn in with the bomb (always you if offline with bots).

Take the bomb to one of the bomb sites and plant it. Be sure to protect it too, so no counter-terrorists defuse it and win. When the bomb explodes, your team will win.

The terrorists can also win by taking out all the Counter Ts.

The differences between Classic Casual and Completive are simple. On casual Friendly fire is off, Team collision is off, and all the Counter Terrorists start with wire cutters. On competitive, Friendly fire and team collision are on, and wire cutters need to be bought. Competitive also goes for 30 rounds, while Casual only goes for 15.

Arms Race

Next up is Arms race, the official version of the old Gun Game mod. Pick a map and start.

Arms race is a twist on an average Team Death match game. Every time you kill someone you get awarded a new gun. Keep killing to get better guns.

This game mode gets very frantic with everyone rushing to upgrade their guns first without letting the enemy do the same.

The last weapon you get is the Golden knife. The first person to get a kill with the Golden knife wins the game.

Demolition

The next game mode is Demolition. Pick a map and start.

Demolition is like a combination between Classic and Arms Race. The Terrorists are trying to plant a bomb, and the Counter Ts are trying to stop them.

Instead of buying weapons, if you get a kill in the round, you get the next weapon in the line at the start of the next round. Any additional kills will get you a grenade.

The CTs win by defusing the bomb or killing all the Ts. The Ts win by blowing up the bomb or killing all the CTs.

Deathmatch

Deathmatch is the last game mode. It's like most deathmatch game modes in other games, but with some interesting additions.

Get points buy killing the other team. Most points by the end of the match wins.

Occasionally you will get pinged about a selected weapon that gives extra points when used to kill, and an option to respawn instantly with it. You can also turn on random weapons each time you respawn.

Congrats, you now know enough about Counter Strike Global Offensive to get out there and play some online matches! Have Fun!
