Routers are very complex and diverse devices. We support a lot of them. Odds are, if PFConfig can not log into your router, you have simply picked the wrong router from the long list of supported routers.

Routers have software in them called Firmware. When manufactures create a new firmware for a router, they sometimes change things inside the router, like how port forwarding is done. We have a huge database of different firmwares for every router. If you do not know what your routers firmware is, you can simply pick the first router in the list that matches your routers model number and try it. If it doesn't work, simply try the next router in the list.

Some routers, like the WRT54G series have over 10 different firmwares to try.

Another possibility is that you are trying to use the wrong username and password for your router. This is different than your PFConfig username and registration code. If in doubt, try to log into your router manually until you figure out which username and password that you need to use. PFConfig will not break into your router or crack your username and password for you. You must know these 2 pieces of information.

Absolutely! You can log into your router manually and look around for the firmware number using your web browser. It is always displayed somewhere, but every router is different. If you need help finding your firmware version, that is a great question to ask in the PFConfig forum.

Don't despair, we got you covered. Remember how we said above that you are purchasing support from our team? Here is where that part comes in. Launch PFConfig and "Generate a ticket number" and send us an email. One of us will look at the ticket number and figure out how to make this work for you. If your router is different than all of ours, we'll add support for it. We are here to make PFConfig work for you. Many times this is because your firmware is slightly different than our firmware. If this is the case, we'll tweak it to match your firmware and send you off happily forwarding your ports. We have a very high success rate at this.

There can be many reasons that this can happen.

• Make sure that you are not blocking Internet access for the application that you want to forward using a software firewall. Try disabling your software firewall and see if the problem goes away. Keep in mind, Windows XP has a built in firewall that is OFTEN the culprit here.
• Make sure that you are forwarding ports to the correct computer in your network. Computer are identified by IP addresses, and you need to be sure that you are forwarding ports to YOUR IP address.
• Check out your routers specifications and make sure that it doesn't have a firewall in it that could be blocking your ports.

Once you have purchased PFConfig and installed it, you can request help from right inside the application. We call this "Generating a Ticket Number". Ticket numbers are very important to us, they share all kinds of information about your network and your router that we will need so that we can ask you less questions. Rest assured, there is nothing private in your ticket number, only the essentials that we will need to help you out. We respect your privacy and in no way, shape or form share your information.

Please note, there are many users who generate a ticket number just because the button is there. If you genuinely want help, you need to message us in the built in support system with the ticket number.
