After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

Step 4 - Create A Port Forward Entry

Opening a port to a specific device may solve problems that you are having on your network. Make sure that it is necessary though, before opening a port, because you are effectively creating a pinhole in the firewall portion of your router that could lead to malicious traffic on your network. The risk is exceedingly low, though, so don't let this warning stop you from making this change if you need it.

  1. Put a check in the box marked Rule Enable.

  2. In the Rule Name box, type in a name for this forward. This will serve as a reminder to you in the future as to why this forward was set up, so give it a name that makes sense to you.

  3. You need to enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to into the IP Address box. This can be either the IP address of your computer or any other IP address on your network that you want ports forwarded to.

  4. Enter the ports to forward in to the TCP Ports to Open or UDP Ports to Open box. You can enter a single port (eg. 1000), a range of ports separated by a hyphen (eg. 1000-2000), or a mix of both separated with commas (eg. 1000,2000-3000). If you need to forward the same ports for both TCP and UDP, you will want to enter them in to both boxes.

  5. Select Allow All from the Inbound Filter drop-down box.

  6. Choose Always from the Schedule drop-down box.

  7. Remember to click the Add button at the bottom of the page to apply these changes when you are completely finished.
