A Sky ER115 router protects your home network by blocking unwanted incoming internet connections and acting as a basic firewall. Sometimes you need to open a port in your router in order to get a good connection for a game or to use a specific device on your network. The ER115 lets you choose the applications that are allowed to connect through an open port. By opening a port in your router you allow a specific application or game to send data from the internet to your home network.
Follow these steps to open a port in your Sky ER115 router:
- On the computer or device that you are forwarding ports to, you will need to set up a static IP address.
- Login to your Sky ER115 router.
- Navigate to the Services section in your Sky ER115 router.
- Find the Security tab located near the top of the screen and click on it.
- Click on Services.
- Create a Services entry.
- Make your way to the Firewall Rules section of the Sky ER115 router.
- Find the Firewall Rules link located near the top of the screen and click it.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.
Step 2
In order to login to the Sky ER115 router you need to use a web browser. The Sky ER115 router uses what is called a web interface where you can access and control router settings.
Go ahead and open up your favorite web browser. If you don't have a favorite or are not sure what this means, open up Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
If this step is confusing, we have simplified it for you with this link: Login to your ER115 Router
Find the address bar once you have opened up a web browser. This is usually located at the top of the page, like in the image below.
Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your web browser and type in your router's IP address.
The default IP address for the Sky ER115 router is: 192.168.0.1
Once you have entered your router's IP address in the address bar go ahead and click the enter button on your keyboard. You should see a box like the one shown below.
Enter the username and password for your Sky ER115 router. Note: If you have changed these numbers in the past, you will need to enter in the those values.
- The default Sky ER115 Router Username is: admin
- The default Sky ER115 Router Password is: sky
Once you have entered your username and password, remember to click the Log In button to login to your Sky ER115 router.
Sky Username and Password Trouble
If the username and password that you typed in did not work, check out our Default Sky Router Passwords page for other ideas about possible passwords.
If, after trying the above list of passwords you still can't log in, you may need to reset your router. Learn how to do that by reading our How to Reset a Router guide. After resetting the Sky ER115 router your username and password are reverted back to factory defaults. Router settings may also change when you reset, so make a note of your current router settings before you reset.
Step 3
You should be on the home page of your Sky ER115 router once you have successfully logged in. Find the Services section of your router.
- Find the Security tab at the top of the screen and click on it.
- Click on Services.
You should now be on a page that says Services.
Step 4
Make sure that you must open a port in your router before doing so since this will allow data to come through the firewall portion of your router to a specific device. It is possible that this could lead to malicious traffic on your network. However, don't let this warning stop you from making this change if you need it because the risk is very low.

First you'll need to create a service, so go ahead and click on the button labeled Add Service.
- In the Name box, type in a name for this forward. This will serve as a reminder to you in the future as to why this forward was set up, so give it a name that makes sense to you.
- In the Protocol dropdown box, select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding. Choose Both if your router has that option. Otherwise, choose either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP and your router does not have the Both option, then you need to create two entries.
- To forward a single port, enter the port number into the Start Port and the Finish Port boxes. To forward a range of ports, enter the lowest number in the range into the Start Port box. Then enter the highest number in the range into the Finish Port box.
- Click the Apply button at the bottom of the page when you are completely finished to apply these changes.
Then you'll need to forward that service to an address. To do that click on the Firewall Rules link, which is at the top of the screen.
Now to forward the service you created, find the Inbound Services Add button located near the bottom of the screen and click on it.
- Choose the Service you created from the Service drop-down box.
- Choose ALLOW always from the Action drop-down list.
- In the Destination IPv4 LAN address box, enter the IP address that you want ports forwarded to. This may be the IP address of your computer or the IP address of another device on your network that you want to forward ports to.
- Choose Any from the Access from drop-down box.
- Click the Apply button at the bottom of the page when you are completely finished to apply these changes.
