Before Forwarding a Port Setup a Static IP Address

To setup port forwarding on the 3com 3cr856-95 router your computer needs to have a static IP address. You should complete one of the following steps first:

You should see a box prompting you for your 3com 3cr856-95 password. Enter the password now.

Configuring the DVR to pick up an IP address

  • Press Menu
  • Select System

  • Select Network

  • Put a check in the DHCP box.
  • Select OK.

  • Exit out to the live cameras by pressing the ESC button on the DVR.


Power Cycle the DVR

  • Remove the power cable from the back of the dvr.
  • Wait 20 seconds.
  • Plug in the power cable.


Identifying the IP address

  • Press Menu
  • Select Info
  • Select Network

  • Write down the IP address, subnet mask & gateway found on your info network screen.



Assign a Static IP

  • Press Menu
  • Select System

  • Select Network

  • Remove the check from the DHCP box.
  • Input the same IP address, subnet mask & gateway - (you wrote down earlier).

  • Select ok

Now that you are logged in to your 3com 3cr856-95 router you should see the following:

Click the Firewall link.

Select Custom from the Local Service drop down box.

Forward Ports 80,2000 on the 3com 3cr856-95
