Ping Communication 7962v1 Router Port Forwarding Instructions

Your 7962v1 router helps to protect your network by blocking incoming internet connections. This is an important feature that helps you to control which applications have access to your network. Sometimes you want to allow network access to a specific application in order to play a game, connect a device, or use an app. The Ping Communication 7962v1 can unblock certain incoming connections through port forwarding or by opening a port. You can open ports in your 7962v1 by assigning specific ports to an IP address. Forwarding these ports directs incoming data to a specific device or application.

To open a port in your Ping Communication 7962v1 router, follow these important steps:

  1. On the computer or device that you are forwarding ports to, you will need to set up a static IP address.
  2. Go ahead and log in to your Ping Communication 7962v1 router.
  3. In your Ping Communication 7962v1 router, navigate to the Port Forwarding section.
    • Find the Services tab at the top of the screen and click on it.
    • Click the Firewall tab at the left of the screen.
    • Click Port Forwarding.
  4. Create a Port Forwarding entry.

Step 1 - Setup A Static IP Address

In order to keep the ports in your router open, even after a reboot or disconnect, it is important to set up a static IP address in the device that you are forwarding a port to.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

Step 2 - Login To Your Ping Communication Router

The Ping Communication 7962v1 router uses a web interface to display router settings. In order to login to the Ping Communication 7962v1 router you need to use a web browser.

Open your favorite web browser. If you don't have a favorite or are not sure what this means, open up Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. If you are already in a browser window, go ahead and open up a new tab.

Find the address bar in your browser window. This is usually found at the top of the page, like in the image below.

Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your web browser and type in your router's IP address.

The Ping Communication 7962v1 router's default IP address is: 192.168.1.254

After typing your router's IP address into the address bar, make sure to click the enter button on your keyboard. You should see a box similar to the one shown below.

Enter the username and password for your Ping Communication 7962v1 router. Note: If you have changed these numbers in the past, you will need to enter in the those values.

Once you have entered your username and password, remember to click the Login button to login to your Ping Communication 7962v1 router.

Step 3 - Find The Port Forwarding Section

You should be on your routers home page once you complete logging in. Find the Port Forwarding section on the home page of the Ping Communication 7962v1 router.

You should now be on a page that says Port Forwarding.

Step 4 - Create A Port Forward Entry

Make sure that you must open a port in your router before doing so since this will allow data to come through the firewall portion of your router to a specific device. It is possible that this could lead to malicious traffic on your network. However, don't let this warning stop you from making this change if you need it because the risk is very low.

Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:

  • TCP Ports: 3074
  • UDP Ports: 3074

  1. In the Comment box, type in a name for this forward. This will serve as a reminder to you in the future as to why this forward was set up, so give it a name that makes sense to you.
  2. Go ahead and enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to into the Local IP box. It is possible for this to be either the IP address of your computer or of any other device on your network that you want ports forwarded to.
  3. To forward a single port, enter the port number into the Local Port from and the Local Port to boxes. To forward a range of ports, enter the lowest number in the range into the Local Port from box. Then enter the highest number in the range into the Local Port to box.
  4. Use the Protocol dropdown box to select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding. If your router has the option of Both, then choose that. Otherwise, choose either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP and your router does not have Both, then you have to create two entries.
  5. Leave Remote IP blank.
  6. Take the values that you entered in the Local Port box and put the exact same numbers in the Remote Port box.
  7. Choose Any from the Interface drop-down box.
  8. Click the Add button at the bottom of the page to apply these changes when you are completely finished.
