Simple Telekom Speedport W 724V Router Port Forwarding Guide

Your Speedport W 724V router helps to protect your network by blocking incoming internet connections. This is an important feature that helps you to control which applications have access to your network. Sometimes you want to allow network access to a specific application in order to play a game, connect a device, or use an app. The Telekom Speedport W 724V can unblock certain incoming connections through port forwarding or by opening a port. You can open ports in your Speedport W 724V by assigning specific ports to an IP address. Forwarding these ports directs incoming data to a specific device or application.

In order to open ports in your Telekom Speedport W 724V router, you need to:

  1. Go ahead and set up a static IP address on the computer or device that you are forwarding these ports to.
  2. Go ahead and log in to your Telekom Speedport W 724V router.
  3. Make your way to the Port Forwarding section of the Telekom Speedport W 724V router.
    • Click the Internet tab, which is at the top of the screen.
    • Click on the Port activation link at the left of the screen.
    • Expand the Port diversions and port forwarding section.
  4. Go ahead and create a Port Forwarding entry.

Step 1 - Setup A Static IP Address

It is important to set up a static IP address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports remain forwarded even after a reboot, power outage, or another type of device or router disconnect.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

Step 2 - Login To Your Telekom Router

The Telekom Speedport W 724V router uses a web interface to display router settings. In order to login to the Telekom Speedport W 724V router you need to use a web browser.

Open your favorite web browser. If you don't have a favorite or are not sure what this means, open up Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. If you are already in a browser window, go ahead and open up a new tab.

Find the address bar in your browser window. This is usually found at the top of the page, like in the image below.

Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your web browser and type in your router's IP address.

The Telekom Speedport W 724V router's default IP address is: 192.168.1.1

Once you have finished entering your router's IP address into the address bar, click the enter button on your keyboard. A box similar to the one below should appear.

Enter the username and password for your Telekom Speedport W 724V router. Note: If you have changed these numbers in the past, you will need to enter in the those values.

Once you have entered your username and password, remember to click the Log in button to login to your Telekom Speedport W 724V router.

Step 3 - Find The Port Forwarding Section

You should be on the home page of your Telekom Speedport W 724V router once you have successfully logged in. Find the Port Forwarding section of your router.

You should now be on a page called Settings for activating the port.

Step 4 - Create A Port Forward Entry

Opening a port to a specific device may solve problems that you are having on your network. Make sure that it is necessary though, before opening a port, because you are effectively creating a pinhole in the firewall portion of your router that could lead to malicious traffic on your network. The risk is exceedingly low, though, so don't let this warning stop you from making this change if you need it.

Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:

  • TCP Ports: 3074
  • UDP Ports: 3074

  1. If it's not already, go ahead and expand the Port diversions and port forwarding section.

  2. To create a TCP entry click on the Create other TCP diversion link, or click on the Create other UDP diversion link to create a UDP entry.

  3. If you are forwarding a single port, enter that port number into the left public port and the right public port boxes. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the left public port box. Then enter the highest number of that range into the right public port box.

  4. Enter the exact same values that you put in the left public port box, into the client port box.

  5. Enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to into the device box. It is possible to forward a port to the IP address of your computer or to the IP address of a specific device on your internal network.

  6. Make sure to click the Save button at the bottom of the page to apply these changes, when you are completely finished.
