Airlink 101 AR430W routers include a very basic firewall that helps protect your home network from unwanted access Internet access. Since this firewall blocks incoming connections you may need to open a port through it for certain games and applications to work better. This process of opening a port is frequently called a port forward, since you are forwarding a port from the Internet to your home network.
In this guide I will show you how to port forward a port on the Airlink 101 AR430W router. These steps include:
We think that forwarding a port should be easy. That's why we created Network Utilities. Our software does everything that you need to forward a port.
When you use Network Utilities you get your port forwarded right now!
It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.
You need to enter this static IP address later in the port forwarding process. I recommend writing this address down.
In order to login to the Airlink 101 AR430W router interface you need to open a web browser. It typically doesn't matter what browser you decide to use, I recommend picking the one you are most comfortable with such as Chrome, Internet Explorer or Firefox.
Once you have opened the web browser, find the address bar. If you don't know what this is, it is located at the top of the page like this:
In the picture above the address bar has 192.168.1.1 in it. Just replace all of that with the IP address of your Airlink 101 AR430W router. Your router's IP address can also be referred to as your computer's default gateway.
By default the IP address is set to: 192.168.1.1
After entering the IP address of your router you can simply press enter. If all goes well you will see the following screen:
You should see a box prompting you for your username and password.
If a login screen did not appear after you entered the router's IP address in the address bar, you need to find out what the router's IP address has been changed to. I recommend following the directions on the How To Find Your Router's IP Address page.
Enter your username and password, and then click the Login button to log in to your Airlink 101 AR430W router.
If the default values did not work, here is a full list of all the different known Default Airlink 101 Router Passwords. I recommend trying them before continuing.
If that did not work, use our Find Password App to help you guess what the username and password were changed to.
If you are still unable to login to the Airlink 101 AR430W router it may be time to consider a factory reset. If this is what you need to do, follow the directions on the How to Reset a Router Password guide to set your Airlink 101 AR430W router back to its factory settings.
In this third step it is time to find the port forwarding section of the Airlink 101 AR430W router interface. To help you we begin on the Internet Setup page of your router:
Click the Applications & Gaming link near the top of the page.
The menu below that should change. In this new menu, click Port Range Forwarding.
Now we are ready to enter some data in your router. In order to show you exactly how to configure your router we need you to answer 2 questions:
(The IP address box above needs to contain the static IP address you created in Step 1)
Our router simulator below shows you exactly what data to enter in your router based on your choices above. We are currently showing the ports for XBox Live. If this is correct, simply fill in the boxes in your router as you see them below:
When you're finished, click Apply at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.
Now that you have forwarded ports on the Airlink 101 AR430W you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
To test if your port has been properly forwarded, you can use our Network Utilities tool, which includes a free Open Port Checker. Our Open Port Check tool is the only online port checking tool with Guaranteed Results.
