D-Link DIR-605L Router Port Forwarding Instructions
Your D-Link DIR-605L router has a firewall that helps protect your home network from unwanted Internet activity. The firewall works by blocking connections that have not been authorized. Some online gameplay or programs will run much smoother if you allow additional connections through your firewall. To do this you need to create what is called a port forward.
In this guide I will walk you through the process of port forwarding on the D-Link DIR-605L router. I will cover how to:
- Setup a static IP address on the device you plan on forwarding these ports to.
- Login to the D-Link DIR-605L router web interface.
- Find the port forwarding page in the router's web interface.
- Setup a port forward for the online game or program of your choice.
We think that forwarding a port should be easy. That's why we created Network Utilities. Our software does everything that you need to forward a port.
When you use Network Utilities you get your port forwarded right now!
It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.
TIP: Write this static IP address down. You need it in Step 4.

Open up your web browser and find the address bar. It should look something like this:
In the picture above I have circled the address bar for you. Simply replace what is in the address bar with the router's IP address. Remember the router's IP address is also called the computer's default gateway.
By default the IP address of the D-Link DIR-605L router is set to: 192.168.0.1
After entering the IP address of your router press enter. If all goes well you will see the following screen:

Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:
TCP Ports: 3074 UDP Ports: 3074
If you are looking for the ports for a different application you can find it by either:
Put a checkmark in the Enable checkbox.
Enter the name of the program into the Name box. It doesn't really matter what you put into this box, but something that will remind you why these ports are being forwarded is be a good idea.
Enter the IP address that you want to forward these ports to in the IP Address box. You can enter either the IP address of your computer or the IP address of another computer or device on your network.
If you are forwarding a range of ports then you need to enter the lowest number of that range into the left hand Public Port and Private Port boxes and the highest number of that range into the right hand Public Port and Private Port boxes.
If you are forwarding a single port then you can enter that same port number into both of the Public Port and both of the Private Port boxes.
From the Traffic Type box select the protocol for the ports that you want to forward.
When you're finished, click Save Settings near the top of the screen to save your changes.
