Your EG400 router helps to protect your network by blocking incoming internet connections. This is an important feature that helps you to control which applications have access to your network. Sometimes you want to allow network access to a specific application in order to play a game, connect a device, or use an app. The Inteno EG400 can unblock certain incoming connections through port forwarding or by opening a port. You can open ports in your EG400 by assigning specific ports to an IP address. Forwarding these ports directs incoming data to a specific device or application.

To open a port in your Inteno EG400 router, follow these important steps:

  1. Go ahead and set up a static IP address on the computer or device that you are forwarding these ports to.
  2. Go ahead and log in to your Inteno EG400 router.
  3. Find the Port Forwarding section in your Inteno EG400 router.
    • Find the Network tab at the top of the screen and click it.
    • Click on the Firewall tab at the left of the screen.
    • Click on Port Forwarding.
  4. Create a Port Forwarding entry.

The process of opening ports in your router may seem like a difficult task. If so, you are not alone! We are here to help walk you through the steps to open a port in the Inteno EG400 router.

When you use Network Utilities you get your port forwarded right now!

Step 1 - Setup A Static IP Address

In order to keep the ports in your router open, even after a reboot or disconnect, it is important to set up a static IP address in the device that you are forwarding a port to.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

Step 2 - Login To Your Inteno Router

Log in to the Inteno EG400 router. To do this you need to use a web browser because the Inteno EG400 router uses what is called a web interface.

It normally doesn't matter what web browser you use so go ahead and open up your favorite. If you don't have a favorite then open up Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

If that is confusing to you, we have simplified this step with this link: Login to your EG400 Router

Once you have opened up a browser window, find the address bar. This is usually at the top of the page like the image below shows.

Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your web browser and type in your router's IP address.

The Inteno EG400 router's default IP address is: 192.168.0.1

Once you have finished entering your router's IP address into the address bar, click the enter button on your keyboard. A box similar to the one below should appear.

Enter the username and password for your Inteno EG400 router. Note: If you have changed these numbers in the past, you will need to enter in the those values.

Once you have entered your username and password, remember to click the Sign in button to login to your Inteno EG400 router.

Inteno Usernames and Passwords

If the username and password did not work I recommend checking out our Default Inteno Router Passwords page.

If, after trying the above list of passwords you still can't login you may need to consider a reset for your router. Learn how to do that by reading our How to Reset a Router guide. After resetting the Inteno EG400 router your username and password are reverted back to factory defaults.

Step 3 - Find The Port Forwarding Section

After a successful login to the Inteno EG400 router you should be on the home page of your router. Now you need to find the Port Forwarding section.

Step 4 - Create A Port Forward Entry

Opening a port to a specific device may solve problems that you are having on your network. Make sure that it is necessary though, before opening a port, because you are effectively creating a pinhole in the firewall portion of your router that could lead to malicious traffic on your network. The risk is exceedingly low, though, so don't let this warning stop you from making this change if you need it.

Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:

  • TCP Ports: 3074
  • UDP Ports: 3074

If you are looking for the ports for a different application you can find it by either:

  1. Go ahead and toggle the Enable option on if it's not already.

  2. Type in a name for this forward in the Rule Name box. Choose a name that will help you remember why this forward was set up since it does not affect the functionality of the forward.

  3. Select the Zone that applies to your internet connection from the Source Zone drop down list.

  4. Choose LAN from the Destination Zone drop-down list.

  5. You can leave Source IP Address unchecked, unless you understand what it's for and wish to make use of it.

  6. Enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to into the Dst. IP Address box. It is possible to forward a port to the IP address of your computer or to the IP address of a specific device on your internal network. Or, you can try selecting it from the Dst. Device menu.

  7. Use the Protocol dropdown box to select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding. If your router has the option of Both, then choose that. Otherwise, choose either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP and your router does not have Both, then you have to create two entries.

  8. You can enter either a single number or a range of numbers in the Source Port(s) box. If you are forwarding a single port number you can enter it into the Source Port(s) box. To forward a range of ports you can enter the lowest number of that range into the Source Port(s) box, followed by a colon, followed by the largest number. An example would look like this: 1000:2000.

  9. If the Destination Port(s) box didn't populate automatically, go ahead and take the same values that you entered into the Source Port(s) box, and enter them into the Destination Port(s) box.

  10. The NAT Loopback option is up to you, it doesn't really affect the port forward either way.

  11. To finish adding the entry click the Save button.

  12. To apply these changes, remember to click the Apply button at the bottom of the page when you are completely finished.

Test Your Open Ports

Finally, test your network to see if you have forwarded ports in the Inteno EG400 router correctly. To do this you can use Network Utilities, which includes a free Open Port Checker tool. Open Port Checker is the only online port-checking tool that has Guaranteed Results.
