After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

Step 4 - Create A Port Forward Entry

Make sure that you must open a port in your router before doing so since this will allow data to come through the firewall portion of your router to a specific device. It is possible that this could lead to malicious traffic on your network. However, don't let this warning stop you from making this change if you need it because the risk is very low.

  1. Choose your internet connection from the WAN Connection drop-down box. If you're unsure what the correct option is, your router's WAN Network Status page should tell you something.

  2. Click on the button that says Add.

  3. Put a check in the box marked Enable.

  4. Put a name for this forward in the Description box so that you can remember why you set this forward up. The name does not matter, so pick something that has meaning to you.

  5. Leave Remote IP Address blank.

  6. Use the Protocol dropdown box to select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding. If your router has the option of Both, then choose that. Otherwise, choose either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP and your router does not have Both, then you have to create two entries.

  7. Enter the port number into the External Port Start and the External Port End boxes to forward a single port. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the External Port Start box and then enter the highest number of that range into the External Port End box.

  8. Take the same values that you entered into the External Port Start box, and enter them into the Internal Port box.

  9. Find the Internal IP Address box and enter the IP address that you want ports forwarded to. This can be either the IP address of your computer or any other IP address for devices on your network that you want to forward ports for.

  10. When you're finished, be sure to click the Add button.

Test If Your Ports Are Open
