Technicolor TG589vn Router Open Port Guide

Your Technicolor TG589vn v2 router has a very basic firewall that helps protect your home network from unwanted Internet activity. The firewall works by blocking incoming and outgoing connections that have not been authorized. To allow additional connections through your router you need to create a port forward.

  1. How to setup a static IP address on the device you plan on forwarding these ports to.
  2. How to login to the Technicolor TG589vn v2 router web interface.
  3. How to find the port forwarding page in the router's web interface.
  4. How to setup a port forward for the online game or program of your choice.

We think that forwarding a port should be easy. That's why we created Network Utilities. Our software does everything that you need to forward a port.

When you use Network Utilities you get your port forwarded right now!

Step 1

It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

  • Recommended - Our free program will setup a static IP address for you.
  • Or follow our Static IP Address guides to setup a static IP address.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

TIP: Write this static IP address down. You need it in Step 4.

Step 2

Now we are going to login to your Technicolor TG589vn v2 router. Your router has a web interface, so you will login to it using your web browser. This can be either Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Edge. It usually does not matter which browser you choose to use.

Open up your web browser and find the address bar. It should look something like this:

192.168.1.1

In the image above I have circled the address bar for you. To begin the login process simply type the router's IP address in the address bar. The router's IP address can also be called the computer's default gateway.

By default the Technicolor TG589vn v2 router has an IP address of 192.168.1.1

After entering the IP address of your router you can simply press enter. If all goes well you will see the following screen:

Technicolor TG589vn_v2

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. If you do not, you need to find out if the IP address has been changed. To do this follow the directions on our How To Find Your Router's IP Address page.

  • The Default Technicolor TG589vn Router Username is: admin
  • The Default Technicolor TG589vn Router Password is: password

Enter your username and password, and then click the Login button to log in to your Technicolor TG589vn v2 router.

Technicolor Usernames and Passwords

If your username and password do not work then please visit our Default Technicolor Router Passwords page.

Go ahead and try to guess your login information. Sometimes this can be easy. If not use our Find Password App.

If you still can't login to your router because you forgot your Technicolor TG589vn v2 router username and password, use our How to Reset a Router Password guide to set your Technicolor TG589vn v2 router back to its factory settings.

You are now on the correct page to make a port forward.

Step 4

Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:

TCP Ports:3074
UDP Ports:3074

If you are looking for the ports for a different application you can find it by either:

Select the required protocol for these ports from the Protocol dropdown box.

If you are forwarding a single port, enter that port number into the Translate To, Top Port Range and the Bottom Port Range boxes. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the Translate To, Top Port Range box. Then enter the highest number of that range into the Bottom Port Range box.

When you are all done click the Add button.

Now click the Assign a game or application to a local network device option at the bottom of the page.

Use the Device box to pick the device you are forwarding these ports to. This will either be the name of the device or the static IP address you created in Step 1. The box will contain a list of all the devices that are visible on your network.

Now select the port forward you just created using the Game or Application drop down list. The select Apply to enable it.
