Your TP-Link Kibosh TL-WR1043N v2 router already has a firewall in place that helps to protect your home network from unwanted access coming from the Internet. This firewall blocks incoming connections that you might want unblocked or "opened". This process of opening a port is frequently called a port forward. Learn more about this process on our What is Port Forwarding page.
We will walk you through each of the following steps:
- Setup a static IP address on the device you plan on forwarding these ports to.
- Login to your TP-Link TL-WR1043N v2 router.
- Navigate to the port forwarding section.
- Click the Firewall link.
- Click on Port Forwarding.
- Create a port forward.
Don't worry, we will be walking you through each step in the process of getting your ports open.
We think that forwarding a port should be easy. That's why we created Network Utilities. Our software does everything that you need to forward a port.
When you use Network Utilities you get your port forwarded right now!
Step 1
It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.
- Recommended - Our free Static IP Setter will set up a static IP address for you.
- Another way to get a permanent IP address is to set up a DHCP reservation.
- Or, manually create a static ip address with our Static IP Guides.
This step is important because you want a permanent IP address in your device. If you do not set up a permanent IP address in your device, then when you device reboots it may get a new IP address.
Use a VPN Instead
Have you considered using a VPN instead of forwarding a port? For most users, a VPN is a much simpler and more secure choice than forwarding a port.
We use and recommend NordVPN because not only is it the fastest VPN, it includes a new feature called Meshnet that makes forwarding a port no longer necessary for most applications. With NordVPN Meshnet, you can connect to your devices from anywhere in the world, completely secure, over a highly encrypted VPN tunnel.
Every time you click on one of our affiliate links, such as NordVPN, we get a little kickback for introducing you to the service. Think of us as your VPN wingman.
Step 2
To login to the TP-Link Kibosh TL-WR1043N v2 router you need to use a web browser because the router uses a web interface. It doesn't matter what browser you decide to use, just pick your favorite. Some of the more common browsers are:
- Internet Explorer
- Edge
- Chrome
- Firefox
Go ahead and open up the browser of your choice and find the address bar. Normally this is at the top of the page like this:
Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your router and type in your router's IP address.
The default TP-Link Kibosh TL-WR1043N v2 IP Address is: 192.168.10.1
After you have typed the IP address in the address bar, click the Enter key on your keyboard.
You are in the right place if you see a page or box asking you for a username and/or password.
- The Default TP-Link TL-WR1043N v2 Router Username is: admin
- The Default TP-Link TL-WR1043N v2 Router Password is: admin
Enter your username and password, and then click the Login button to log in to your TP-Link TL-WR1043N v2 - Kibosh router.
Having Trouble?
This is where most people get stuck. Here are a few troubleshooting ideas you can try:
- First, why not try other Default TP-Link Router Passwords. Sometimes a new firmware version has a different username and/or password.
- If that did not work, we recommend trying to crack the password yourself. This can be automated by our Find Password App. This app will help you find a lost password. This app only works on your local home network, it will not work over the Internet. Learn more in our Router Password Cracker page.
- Finally if nothing else works, it may be time to consider a reset. A router reset like this one erases all personal data on your router. This is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We strongly recommend exhausting other troubleshooting methods before you decide to reset the router. Learn more about resetting a router on this How to Reset a Router page.
Step 3
Step three consists of finding the port forwarding section of your router. To do that, let's start on the first page of your router:
First, click the Firewall option in the left sidebar.
This opens a new sub-menu. Click the new option of Port Forwarding.
You are now on the Port Forwarding page of the TP-Link Kibosh TL-WR1043N v2 router.
Step 4
Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:
- TCP Ports: 3074
- UDP Ports: 3074
If you are looking for the ports for a different application you can find it by either:
- Browsing our List of Games
- Check out our our List of Games by Genre
- See our List of all Applications

Forwarding a Single Port
Create a name for this forward and put it in the Description box. The name is only used as a reminder and has no effect on the port forward.
The protocol that you want to forward is selected from the Protocol box.
Enter the port to forward into the From Port and the To Port boxes.
Enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to in the To IP box. This is either the IP address of a computer or the IP address of another device on your network.
Click the Add button when you are done.
Forwarding a Port Range
Create a name for this forward and put it in the Description box. The name is only used as a reminder and has no effect on the port forward.
Select the required protocol for these ports from the Protocol dropdown box.
If you are just forwarding a single port number then you can simply enter that same number into both the Start Port and the End Port boxes. If you are forwarding a range of ports, usually separated by a hyphen, then you need to enter the lowest number of that range into the Start Port box and then enter highest number into the End Port box.
Enter the IP address that you want to forward these ports to into the To IP box. Note that if you are forwarding ports so you can run a program on a device other than your computer then you can enter your device's IP address into that box instead.
After you are done click the Add button.
Make sure to click the Add button after each entry.
Finally, don't forget to click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
