Xincom Xincom-502 routers include a very basic firewall that helps protect your home network form unwanted access from the internet. Since this firewall blocks incoming connections you may need open a port through it for certain games and applications. This process of opening a port is frequently called a port forward, since you are forwarding a port from the internet to your home network.
The basic process to open a port is:
- Setup a static IP address on either your computer or device that you want to forward a port to.
- Login to your Xincom 502 router.
- Navigate to the port forwarding section.
- Click the Advanced Setup link.
- Click on Custom Virutal Server.
- Create a port forward entry.
While these steps might seem difficult at first, we will walk you through each step for your Xincom Xincom-502 router.

- Another highly recommended way of getting a permanent IP address is to set up a DHCP Reservation.
- Or, follow our Static IP Address Setup guides.
With DHCP reservations you can manage your devices from your router. This centralizes the management of your network and helps prevent IP address conflicts. Using this method you do not have to log in to your devices separately.

Create a name for this forward and put it in the Server Name box. The name is only used as a reminder and has no effect on the port forward.
Be sure that there is a dot in the State Enable radio button.
You need to enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to in the Server IP box. It's possible for this to be either the IP address of your computer or any other IP address on your network that you want ports forwarded to.
The protocol that you want to forward is selected from the Protocol Type box.
If you are forwarding a range of ports then you need to enter the lowest number of that range into the left hand WAN Port Range and LAN Port Range boxes and the highest number of that range into the right hand WAN Port Range and LAN Port Range boxes.
If you are forwarding a single port then you can enter that same port number into both of the WAN Port Range and both of the LAN Port Range boxes.
The default for Interface Binding is set to Both. Leave it like this.
