After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

Create A Port Forward

Opening a port to a specific device may solve problems that you are having on your network. Make sure that it is necessary though, before opening a port, because you are effectively creating a pinhole in the firewall portion of your router that could lead to malicious traffic on your network. The risk is exceedingly low, though, so don't let this warning stop you from making this change if you need it.

  1. Create a name for this forward and type it into the Application Name box. Since the name does not have an effect on the functionality of the forward, choose a name that will help you remember why the forward was created.

  2. Go ahead and enter the port number into the left Public Port and the right Public Port boxes, to forward a single port. To forward a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the left Public Port box and then enter the highest number of that range into the right Public Port box.

  3. Take the values that you entered in the Public Port boxes and put the exact same numbers in the Private Port boxes.

  4. Use the Protocol dropdown box to select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding. If your router has the option of Both, then choose that. Otherwise, choose either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP and your router does not have Both, then you have to create two entries.

  5. You need to enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to into the Local IP Address box. This can be either the IP address of your computer or any other IP address on your network that you want ports forwarded to.

  6. Make sure that Remote IP Address is set to Any.

  7. Make the Enabled selection in the Status drop-down list.

  8. When you are completely finished, click the Apply button at the bottom of the page to apply these changes.
