Creating a Port Forward in Your Router for Synology DS209+

When you use a Synology DS209+ device you might need to forward some ports in your router. A port forward allows incoming connection requests from the internet to go straight to a Synology DS209+ device.

Routers generally do not allow incoming connection requests from the internet. A port forward can overcome this limitation.

Make sure that you know these things before forwarding a port:

• The internal IP address of your router.
• Your NAS's IP address.
• Each of the TCP and UDP ports that you need to forward.

• You can start by logging in to your router.
• Find the port forwarding section in your router.
• Type the IP address of your NAS into the correct box in your router.
• Enter the TCP and UDP ports that you need to forward for a Synology DS209+ device in the corresponding boxes in your router.

Some routers need to be rebooted in order for the changes to be saved.
