Step 1 - Setup A Static IP Address

In order to ensure that your ports remain open in your device even after it reboots, it is important to set up a static IP address in your device.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

Step 2 - Login To Your Arris Router

The Arris TG3492LG-YL router uses a web interface to display router settings. In order to login to the Arris TG3492LG-YL router you need to use a web browser.

Open your favorite web browser. If you don't have a favorite or are not sure what this means, open up Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. If you are already in a browser window, go ahead and open up a new tab.

We have simplified this step for you with this link: Login to your TG3492LG-YL Router

Find the address bar in your browser window. This is usually found at the top of the page, like in the image below.

If, after trying the above list of passwords you still can't login you may need to consider a reset for your router. Learn how to do that by reading our How to Reset a Router guide. After resetting the Arris TG3492LG-YL router your username and password are reverted back to factory defaults.

Step 4 - Create A Port Forward Entry

Forwarding ports in your router creates a path that allows data to get through your network firewall, and this could lead to malicious traffic on your network. So make sure that you must forward a port before actually doing so. However, the risk is very low, so do not let this warning stop you from making this change if you need to.

Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:

  • TCP Ports: 3074
  • UDP Ports: 3074

If you are looking for the ports for a different application you can find it by either:

  1. To start creating an entry, click the Create a New Rule button.

  2. Put a check in the box marked Inbound.

  3. Put a check in the box named Enabled.

  4. For the Traffic Policy option, check Yes.

  5. In the Protocol dropdown box, select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding. Choose Both if your router has that option. Otherwise, choose either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP and your router does not have the Both option, then you need to create two entries.

  6. Make the All selection in the Source IP Address drop-down list.

  7. Choose Single from the Destination IP Address drop-down box.

  8. In the IPv6 Address box, enter the IP address that you want ports forwarded to. This may be the IP address of your computer or the IP address of another device on your network that you want to forward ports to.

  9. Go ahead and enter the port number into the Source Port Range Start and the Source Port Range End boxes, to forward a single port. To forward a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the Source Port Range Start box and then enter the highest number of that range into the Source Port Range End box.

  10. In the Destination Port Range box, enter the same values that you entered into the Source Port Range box.

  11. To finish creating the entry, click on the button that says Add Rule.
