Port Forwarding the Huawei HG8247

The Huawei HG8247 router has a pretty basic firewall that helps to protect your home network from unwanted access. A firewall is designed to block connections. It is necessary sometimes to unblock these ports for a game or application. This process of opening a port is commonly called a port forward.

To create a port forward on the Huawei HG8247 router you need to:

  1. Setup a Static Address on either your computer or device that you want to forward a port to.
  2. Login to your Huawei HG8247 router.
  3. Find the port forwarding section.
    • Click the Forward Rules link.
    • Click on Port Mapping Configuration.
  4. Make a port forward entry.

We understand that these steps may seem difficult. Don't worry, we will walk you through each step in the process.

We think that forwarding a port should be easy. That's why we created Network Utilities. Our software does everything that you need to forward a port.

Get Started Now!

When you use Network Utilities you get your port forwarded right now!

Step 1

It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

  • Recommended - Our free program will setup a static IP address for you.
    Download Network Utilities today!

  • Or follow our Static IP Address guide to setup a static IP address.

Step 2

This next step is logging into the router. To do this you need to open a web browser because your router uses a web interface. This can be Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer or any other web browser you would rather use. It shouldn't matter which browser you want to use.

Open up your web browser and find the address bar. It should look something like this:

192.168.100.1

Do you see the address bar in the above image? It has the numbers 192.168.100.1 in it. Simply replace what is in this address bar with the router's IP Address. If you are having trouble locating your router's IP Address, remember the router's IP Address can be referred to as the computer's default gateway as well.

By default the Huawei HG8247 router's IP Address is: 192.168.100.1

After entering the router's IP Address in the address bar simply click the Enter button. The following page should appear:

If you see a page similar to the one above asking for your Account and Password, you are on the right page.

  • The Default Huawei HG8247 Router Username/Account is: telecomadmin
  • The Default Huawei HG8247 Router Password is: admintelecom

Enter the correct Account and password then press the Login button to access the Huawei HG8247 web interface.

Huawei Usernames/Accounts and Passwords

If the username/account and password did not work we recommend trying other Huawei usernames and passwords. Check them out here on our Default Huawei Router Passwords page.

If you're still unable to login to the router it may be that you changed these values and have forgotten. It might be time to consider a router reset. Learn more about that in our How to Reset a Router guide.

Step 3

Once you have logged into the router you need to find the port forwarding section. To do that start from the first page of your router.

You should now see a new menu in the left sidebar. Click the option titled Port Mapping Configuration.

Step 4

Congratulations, you have made it to the port forwarding page of your router. We want to show you what to enter in your router. To do this we need you to answer the following 2 questions.

Application :
IP Address :

(The IP Address above needs to match the Static IP Address you setup in Step 1)

The next section is our router simulator. This handy section will show you exactly what to enter in your router based on the choices you made above. Currently we are showing the ports for XBox Live. All you need to do is fill in the boxes in the router exactly as you see them below:

Don't forget to click the Apply button after each entry is complete.

Test if Your Ports are Open

You have told the router to forward the ports, are they really open? To find out you can use our FREE Open Port Checker. This is part of our Network Utilities tool.

Our Open Port Checker is the only one online that has Guaranteed Results.
